Bridge2Practice: A Free Digital Learning Tool for Teaching and Research in Voice and Voice Disorders
Objective:
Bridge2Practice is an innovative, freely accessible learning platform that can be used for skills-based training activities that involve watching and listening. It was initially developed at an Australian university to teach voice and voice disorders. Its primary aim was to bridge the gap between classroom learning and clinical practice by providing students with increased exposure to real-world cases and hands-on opportunities to analyse and manage these scenarios, thereby enhancing graduate readiness and improving patient care outcomes. The platform has since evolved to encompass a broader spectrum of skills development and has been integrated into various research projects related to voice disorders.
Method/Design:
This hands-on workshop will provide each participant with instruction on how to use this free platform in both educational and research settings. Attendees will actively engage in creating a custom learning activity using provided audio and video samples. This hands-on approach will ensure practical understanding and skill acquisition in using the platform effectively for teaching and research purposes.
Results/Conclusion:
By the end of the workshop, participants will be proficient in utilising Bridge2Practice to design engaging, skills-based training activities that are customised to meet the specific needs of their learners. The platform facilitates extensive real-world exposure and practice, incorporating self-assessment, peer reviews, and expert feedback, thereby enriching the learning experience. Participants will also receive a comprehensive handout that includes step-by-step instructions and examples of learning activities, serving as a valuable resource for future reference and application.
