Laryngopharyngeal reflux and other characteristics in chronic cough patients
Objectives
The purpose of our study was to investigate laryngopharyngeal (LPR) and other characteristics in chronic cough patients through retrospective analysis of pH monitoring, gluten markers, high-resolution manometry, Reflux Finding Scores (RFS), and laryngeal electromyography results in two groups of the patients. The first group was LPR patients without cough (control) and the second group was LPR patients with chronic cough.
Methods
Adult patients with laryngopharyngeal reflux who presented to Philadelphia Ear, Nose, and Throat Associates (PENTA) in association with the Department of Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery, Drexel University College of Medicine with or without cough symptoms from January 2010 through September 2023 and underwent manometry, pH monitoring, gluten marker blood tests when available, and laryngeal EMG were included in this study.
