| Abstract | This workshop will be to have a hands-on work through of what Giovanni Battista Lamperti's idea of pelvic control of the breath means in relation to classical and contemporary styles of singing. Work will focus on how mastering the forces of gravity and elastic recoil, in concert with dynamic body alignment and openness, help to have a natural, relaxed inflow of breath and control on the way that facilitates both physical freedom and emotional availability to the artistic process at hand. This will be worked on first physicalizing the necessary actions to accomplish this goal, and then applying them to repertoire, both classical and contemporary. |
